HEY, DIARY

Izo's Quick Food Guide to Amsterdam

After three short nights in Amsterdam, Jakob and I took in many delicious food spots around the city.

Gourmet Ice-cream

On our first day strolling under the warm May sun we stumbled upon Rituals Café.

Did you know? Rituals was created by a Dutch man who worked for Unilever and whose job was to source ideas for Unilever. He quit and set up the global success that is now Rituals in 2000. Well done Mr. Cloosterman.

In Ritual's Cafe we discovered MADAQ. The most delicous sorbet and ice-cream. Personal favourite was the Passionfruit & White Chocolate, reminding me of our White Chocolate and Raspberry wedding cake flavour.

Poffertjes

After cycling from Amsterdam central to the island of Marken, we stopped for a treat. There we had delicious poffertjes. Slightly cinnamon, pancake balls covered in icing sugar and strawberries. We loved them and didnt realise until getting them later in the city, how special those were. Handmade by a local women in the small town.

Ron's Bistro

The great Adriaan Bartels, manager of The Cashel Palace recommended Ron's Bistro. His advice did not dissappoint. We started with a Korean chicken 'snack', whipped butter and a milk bread closely resembling the honey milk bread served at The Cashel Palace's Bishops Buttery Restaurant. Then lovely starters, mains and finished with a walk home eating Minz Artisanal Gelato on the walk home.
